- The town approved the “Ban the Bag” ordinance. The transition away from plastic bags needs to be done by November 1, 2017. This might be a good time to stock up on plastic bags if you use them to pick up doggie poo and to practice bringing reusable bags with you when you go to the store.
- The council approved a request to re-vote on the re-zoning of Lots 108 and 109 to expand the Polo Center. There will be a new public hearing at the June 5 meeting. Before that meeting I would like to have a community gathering so we can discuss, vent, and develop a strategy.
- The town is going to look at putting a stop sign at the intersection of Third Beach Rd, Wapping Rd, and Mitchell’s Ln. Mark Patao did an excellent job of presenting his concerns to the council.
- Limited Business Traffic Sensitive Zones. Councilman Rogrigues opened a discussion about the LBA Traffic Sensitive Zones. His concerns is that the language in the zoning ordinances may not be in line with what the town wants or needs. He is also concerned about some of the special zoning variances that get approved. The council voted to hold public hearings with the planning board to discuss these zones. More information to come about times, dates, and areas.
- Councilor Lombardi requested a resolution to support State House Bill H-5805 for Climate Change Coastal Adaptation Fund. More to come at the May 15, 2017 meeting.
